I was sent this email from a friend:

Hello All-

I just had to share this with everyone because it made my day yesterday. We
had a 'donkey man' in the store. I have attached a picture of him. He had
donkey ears and a tailed pinned to his behind. Now at first we think
...practical joke...where is the camera....what's going on. Then we come to
find out that he is the neighbor of someone who works here and that he
truely wants to be a donkey (or thinks he is a donkey) and always wears the
ears and tail. His ears were made of his own hair. He pins them to his
existing hair and gels up the hair to make them flow. We also find out that
he has a pet donkey ...eww

So I walk out into the store yesterday (I work at Mary's Tack & Feed as the
in house Graphic/Web Designer) and this guy is just walking around with his
tail and ears on. And those of you who know me, know that I have no tact.
I could not control myself, fell to the ground, and almost peed my pants.
This is by far the funniest thing I have ever witnessed.

It was a good way to cheer me up on a long day at work. Very entertaining.

Then it turns out that Donkey Man and 'Tiger Man' are buddies. I guess
'Tiger Man' wants to be a cat and has tattoos of stripes on his face and has
gotten plastic surgery to put wrinkles around his mouth similar to what cats
have and he got holes in his skin where he can screw in and out his
whiskers.

Moral of the story ....Wow....San Diego is the place to be :)

We are going to rewind the security cameras to get footage of Donkey Man
...and when we do, I will send clips because I don't do justice to this
man.....We all know I suck at telling stories... (right lilbo? :)

Donkies, this is ours for the taking. This is the game we have been waiting for, we ARE the better team. The best offense (Team Val) vs the best Defense and 2nd best offense (US) should be a great matchup....DEfense wins championships.

We have to win this game, we were up 5-1 and they came back and beat us, we cannot collapse like that again. They broke my nose and im out for blood (no cards though), and you guys should have my back. This weekend probably consisted of a lot of eating and drinking, please run or do some training this week so that we are ready. I am taking this game serious, probably one of the biggest games we have played at the sportsplex. If you aren't ready for it, get ready! This team is a bunch of punk's and their goalie is a bitchass......Greg and Marcelo....4 goals EACH!

Great victory last night, we ran the 2 minute drill. I would say MVP goes to everyone on the field in the last 2-3 minutes, but overall it has to go to Greg. After the Fugitives scored making the game 7-5 with 4 minutes to go, someone had to be heroic. Nobody gave up, and everyone was giving it their all to bring the donkies to victory!

Great Team Victory, Donkies win 9-2

Everyone played their ass off last night and the outcome showed.

Marcelo started us off early with some really nice goals. This set the tone, making it easier to control the rest of the game. Scott and Ramiro were both beasts in the midfield, controlling the ball and making some nice 1 touch passes. Ryan and Greg did an excellent job containing wonder boy (fast as 2/3's the speed of light with a 150mph shot...so they say???) and making sure he didn’t pull any of that on us. Rob was all over the place, midfield making passes and on the D shutting down the opposing forwards.

The Donkies played host to yet another new team at the Rockville Sportsplex (obviously in the wrong division). We started out strong making nice passes and taking easy shots, ending the 1st half 9-0 with a nice shutout (well, not sure if he was shot at) by Gerard. We saw that this game was getting out of hand quickly so everyone (except the DICK of the game Ramiro) decided to back off a little. This led to 3 quick goals by the Cebiche House. This was a nice game to get everyone in the passing frame of mind and ready for the much more difficult schedule ahead.

New Season Payments and Mixup

Donkies, it appears that this is not considered the "winter" season (thanks Ramiro for saying it was) so the cost is not $700. The cost is only $595 and since Marcelo is too cool to reply to emails or the blog, he was not factored in when figuring out the cost. To summarize, we have 11 players this season and only need to pay $595.

Since everyone except for 3 people have paid, we only owe $30 more dollars to the sportsplex. With the remainder of the money, I will keep it and make sure it goes toward next season. If you cannot play next season, you will get your DOLLARS ($10-$15) back at the end of the season. Is this cool with everyone?

If you are not on the team, I am sorry but I have been sending out emails for over a week asking if you want to play. For the people who wouldn't commit, we would always like having you guys as subs. I said the first 10 who pay/give me a definite are on the team, and I feel this is fair.

This is what I sent Rockville Sports!

I am writing on behalf of the Donkies who played the Quilmes at 7:55 last night in Div 2. I forget the ref’s name, but I know it started with an R. I mentioned this to the front desk last night, but there were no complaint forms left.

Anyway, I don't believe the game was called fairly at all, and with about 2 minutes left our player ran into another player and ended up on the ground. As our player was on the ground he was intentionally KICKED by the other team’s player. The ref cam over and carded our player. That's fine, if that is the way he saw the event happen originally. But to have a player on the ground getting kicked and doing nothing about it is unacceptable. The game was tied 4-4 at this time, and that put us a man down. If he was to give our player a card, it should have gone both ways. Kicking a player while he is on the ground defenseless should result in a card. About a minute later, another one of our players falls, and is kicked AGAIN, right in front of our goal. The ball was very close to this event and everyone saw it, even the other team because they were telling there players to calm down.

While this is not my only complaint, these are the two major events that made me actually file a complaint. I feel the ref was not controlling the situation by letting players get kicked even though there was less than 2 minutes left in the game while we were tied. I understand that fouls are a part of the game and it is the ref's job to decide on all calls, but last night was a horrible showing by the ref. I have had people on my team complain to me about this ref a lot, but never felt a need to file a real complaint, until now. Is there anyway that we can request to never have this referee again?

We keep a file of all ourreferees so that we can monitor the amount of complaints thatthey receive and the severity. A copy is also sent to thereferee assignor so that appropriate actions may be taken withthe assignor and the referee if need be.

As far as not asking to have a certain referee, we cannot dothis. Unless it is proven that a particular referee has a grudgeagainst a certain team, and acts accordingly then we willterminate that referee. If you end up having a referee whoyou believe to be unfair (on purpose), or unknowledgableabout our rules, please send someone to the front desk, andask a staff member to monitor the game. Missing a few callshere or there or having an occassional "bad night" does notconstitute a bad ref.

The Donkies held the lead for a majority of the game, even up by as much as 4-1. Around 35 minutes into the match, it all went downhill. Everyone seemed to pack it in and play a prevent defense, which rarely works and tonight it showed. A few careless plays later, the donkies were tied 4-4!

On the bright side, we are still undefeated. After tonight's game, there should only be one other undefeated team (CCCP) who we play next week at 7:55. They should now have 6pts and we will have 5pts. Next week is a MUST WIN for us, so we can take over first place. Be ready....we play the NUMBER 1 team. CCCP beat Quilmes (who we just tied) 6-2, which tells me, that we can DEFINITELY beat these guys.

The stats may have cost the Donkies a victory tonight. Everyone seemed to want to score, instead of moving the ball around, which is Donkies soccer. Ian had a beast of a game, hitting an upper 90 shot to tie the game at 5.

Next week we need to come out and play better AS A TEAM! The only positive that we can walk away with tonight, is that we are still undefeated.

As Derek already mentioned, it wasnt a pretty site for the Donkies, but we pulled out the victory and thats what counts. Ramiro did play very well, even hitting the game winning shot after some fancy footwork to free himself for the goal. Greg had a very solid game, putting some goals away from the outside like usual.

Some players need to step their game up and they know it, ah what the hell I'll name some names.

Brett - some weak passes in the back, need to stop that crap
Derek- he took himself out, enough said
Juan- if you are going to be a ballerina, take some balance classes.

..just to put it in perspective, the team we just played finished 3-5 in the 3rd division (3-A) and we almost lost. There is no doubt that there will be tougher teams in this league!! PREPARE!

There are a lot of new teams (I have never seen before) so we really have no clue what this season will be like. At least we dont have to play the P'nuts. Where are the Diablos?

July 27th. Donkies win 7 to 1

Another great performance by the Donkies!! Gerard stepped up huge tonight with a goal, and so did Juan. Every other donkie had a great game too. Rob was very close to pitching a shut out, but they were able to squeez one in (a horrible goal I may add). The defense was solid again and our midfield controlled the ball very nicely.

This was a fun game, the way it should be played. Hopefully we will continue this winning streak into the next season (and that better be in a lower division).

Tonight Our game is at 7pm. Everyone should leave earlier than usual because of traffice. We will be getting our 2nd victory of the season, thus avoiding a bye next week. I am giving my Rasheed Wallace guarantee, plus I have been training this past week and will no longer require a sub every 2 minutes of play.

Soccer Tournament Sunday July 24th

Our sunday league (DDT-outdoor) will be playing in a tournament on Sunday July 24th, but we are missing a few players. I know others are working on finding players to fill spots but if you are interested please let me know.

I dont have the details on cost per player and times yet, but I should be getting that information soon.

What up Donkies. Derek is trying to get a big group together for DC United vs. Chelsea on Thursday July 28th at Fed Ex Field in Landover. The Post has called this the "highest-profile game in the club's history" We need to all show up in Donkey gear for the biggest DC United
game ever.

Here is Derek's full email:
Chelsea is coming to town on July 28th, and Dave Ungrady has received the pricing. I suggest that we go with the premium level seats at $18 each plus some shipping fees. Basically if we all pay $20 buck s and bring something we will have a blast, or pay me $25+ and I will make sure to use the extra $ towards food for the BBQ and beer. If you don't pay the extra $5+ bring some of your own.

We have to get a minimum to get that price, but I do not think it will be difficult with this group, but I need to in the next few days who wants to go, and I need you to bring the money to me by next Wednesday so I can place the order on Thursday. The game is on a Thursday, and i plan to leave work early, head downtown, and start grilling and drinking beer. Maybe be there around 4-4:30. Parking lot soccer, some drinks, and a good time as always.
It would be great if some of the brazilians hooked us up with the BBQ they always bring................us gringos can't seem to ever get it quite right. Let me know via email, and bring your duckets to Saturday soccer this weekend, indoor next wed, or at work...if you are on the green team just give thge money to my bro or we will work it out somehow. Hope you can make it, derek.
